You know that question, "who would you most like to have dinner with?" - my answer might just be Alex Berenson. If 2020 revealed nothing else, it's that there aren't that many independent thinkers on the planet, but Berenson clearly is an exception. Every aspect of this book is so solid - it's well written, his logic is easy to follow, and nothing is stated without a source that you can go read yourself. What kind of scared me was how much of the content is unknown to the public, because it doesn't fit "the agenda" of major media outlets.If Amazon allowed half-stars, I'd be at 4.5 stars; the last third of the book is really sloppy on its layout. Citations, which were done 100% consistently though the first two "booklets", are all over the map in the third booklet; some are inline, some are done as a footnote, and there's no rhyme or reason why some are gray and some are black. This is an editing problem, not a problem with the writing or the quality of the references, but it's distracting.At my hypothetical dinner, I would congratulate Berenson on his effort, which is outstanding. Later, I'd politely quibble over the use of "data" as a plural (example: "the data are clear"). No - data is just numerical information; you would never say "the information are clear", no matter how many or how varied the bits of information were.Quibbles aside, I liked this book so much that I bought another copy for my mom. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. It should be required reading for policymakers. A hard look at the pandemic and the responses to it. Covid-19 is POSSIBLY twice as deadly as seasonal flu. 0.2% fatalities as opposed to 0.1% fatalities. Hardly something that justifies shutting down the economy. Masks, in every rigorous trial have been shown to be ineffective at reducing the spread. Even good quality masks used properly. In short, we are being mislead by our leaders to sow panic and self-censorship and self-reppression. The takeaway is that it is hard to see this as anything but an attempt (so far apparently successful) to sway the Presidential election of 2020.
